Thanks for all the help, EspeMag!
Independently I was advised that I should be using the MP3 Trigger. The Trigger will do exactly what I need it to do with no code.

It seems like it should solve my problem. It looks like it should solve all my issues regarding triggering issues and needing more inputs. I’m going to order this, install it, and report back.
I want to thank you for your help here. I will still have the MP3 Shield and will want to use it in another project once this one is completed so your links will come in handy.
